The contract details come before the adjectives
In the UAE, a CV is read together with a set of practical facts: are you already in the country, do you need sponsorship, what is your notice period, and is the salary all-in or split into basic and allowances. A role in a free-zone company and the same title on the mainland can look identical in the description and behave very differently in practice.
I have seen strong profiles lose momentum because the visa line was missing. The recruiter had to ask, the candidate took two days to answer, and the shortlist moved on. Small omission, real cost.
What UAE recruiters look for
- Visa status and sponsorship. On a visit visa, on a spouse visa, or needing full sponsorship — say it.
- Notice period. 30 days is common, 60 to 90 for senior roles; state whether it is negotiable.
- Salary structure. Basic plus housing, transport and other allowances, or a single figure.
- Free zone or mainland experience, because licensing and hiring rules differ.
- Nationality and languages, where the role genuinely requires them.
Dubai is not one market
Dubai Internet City, JLT, DIFC and the industrial zones hire differently. A tech role in a free zone may move faster and care more about portfolio. A mainland role may care more about licensing, local compliance and client relationships. Abu Dhabi adds a large public-sector and energy layer. Adjust the emphasis, not the facts.
Applying from abroad
Some employers sponsor from overseas; others will not consider a candidate who is not already in the UAE. Filter for sponsorship before you invest in a long application. Keep degree certificates and attestations ready — they are often requested late in the process and take time.

FAQ
Does the employer sponsor a visa?
Where stated, we show it. If a listing is silent, ask before applying.
Is the salary tax-free?
UAE salaries are generally not subject to personal income tax, but allowances change the real package. Compare the whole structure.
Can I apply from abroad?
Some employers hire from abroad with sponsorship; others require you to already be in the UAE.
Should I include a photo?
It is common and generally accepted. A professional headshot is fine; it is not a substitute for the visa and notice details.
